Grieg – emotionally interpreted

On September 10th and 11th The Thurgau Youth Orchestra performs in St. Gallen and Romanshorn. The young pianist Arta Arnicane plays Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor and is looking forward to the strong energy of her fellow players.

Interview: Andreas Schweizer

Ms Arnicane, what does it mean to you to perform with the Thurgau Youth Orchestra as a soloist in Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor?

Arta Arnicane: I I’m really looking forward to the rehearsals! There’s always something special about playing with a youth orchestra: a very strong energy, passion, great emotions – all important things in music.

What do you like best about Grieg’s piano concerto, where do you focus your interpretation?

Edvard Grieg’s piano concerto is a wonderful work and has a special meaning for me: It was the first piano concerto that I was allowed to play with the Latvian National Orchestra when I was 15. I always think of that day of my first solo concert with an orchestra. It is wonderful for me to be able to play this concerto again with young musicians. It will therefore be an emotional Give an interpretation!
