The Thurgau Youth Orchestra presents itself as a wonderfully active musical ensemble on a new CD. The conductor and president of the orchestra are thinking about the next generation.
This classical CD is really amazing: after four intensive days of rehearsals, it was recorded live in the Tonhalle St. Gallen in September and is now being released just in time for Christmas. The disc is above all musically amazing. What young people between the ages of twelve and student age achieve here is really surprising.
Antonín Dvorák’s famous ninth symphony (“From the New World”) sounds with a wonderfully springy, transparent sound. It succeeds in creating subtle natural moods as well as almost jubilant upswings full of symphonic tension in the finale. This recording is not a feat of strength that young people are forced to do; rather, the playing breathes completely freely and naturally.
