The Thurgau Youth Orchestra kicked off its three-part concert series on Sunday in Romanshorn. The visitors to the Protestant church were impressed by the musicians’ performance.
ROMANSHORN. The 10 to 25-year-old musicians showed off their skills in three formations. For half a century, the Thurgau Youth Orchestra played in a purely string formation. Since the anniversary year of 2015, the formation has also been symphonic.
A nine-person ensemble kicked off the concert with the “Petite Symphonie” for wind instruments by Charles Gounod (1818-1893). The agile wind players did the lyrical, cheerful and, towards the end, lively work justice with their virtuoso and precise playing.
